As Process Manager you will play a key part in helping to drive improvements in all areas. This dynamic role is suited to a hands-on problem-solver who will use technical expertise to contribute to the efficiency and reliability of our production processes. Due to the responsibilities of this role, you must be willing to be flexible on working hours (to attend out of hour call outs including weekends) and travel around the UK (and possibly Europe).

Other duties include:

  • Delivery of year-on-year operational cost improvement
  • Develop a safety first, strong team culture which supports the site continual improvement (PIP) initiative
  • Investigation of processes for materials & machinery, producing plans to control, develop and improve these whilst managing priorities, resources and costs accordingly
  • Assist in investigations and help improve process efficiency / product quality
  • Investigate raw material/machinery sourcing opportunities; carrying out feasibility testing, external site visits and evaluation
  • Investigate causes of product defects, machinery and people performance and offer solutions to improve quality
  • Carry out kiln / dryer trials to help improve quality, energy, maintenance and yields
  • Advise on raw material opportunities likely to enhance product quality / efficiency
  • Lead the introduction of change processes / controls

Hours of Work: 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday

About You

Safety is our biggest priority, so you’ll be committed to safe working and have strong experience of health and safety best practice. We will provide you with PPE and equipment to ensure you can undertake your role safely.

You’ll enjoy working in a busy environment where you can roll your sleeves up and get hands-on, and being flexible and able to adapt to the different daily priorities will enable the factory to continue to run efficiently.

As this role is sometimes physically demanding, you’ll be fit enough to perform your various duties.

You’ll also have:

  • Experience of working with a continuous manufacturing process
  • Minimum qualification should be Diploma ideally in manufacturing, engineering, chemistry or lean / operational excellence
  • Experience of quality control and testing and related systems, (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BES 6001)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and able to run and facilitate problem solving and bottlenecking/enterprise kaizen team events
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Good communication skills with an ability to work with other people & departments
  • Knowledge of clay technology and raw materials in the heavy clay industry
