Process Improvement Engineer, £48760 – 56890, Days, Derby

ATA are working with the world’s largest Automotive group, Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK), who are looking to recruit a Process Improvement Engineer for their growing team in Burnaston, Derby. Located at their world-class manufacturing facility, this rare opportunity sits within the company’s mass production area within the assembly shop.

This role would be suitable for Reliability Engineers, Continuous Improvement Engineers, Process Engineers, Production Engineers, or Manufacturing Engineers with a maintenance bias.

About the role

Toyota's Process Improvement Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring their mass production operations run effectively with minimum downtime.

Working within the assembly maintenance team, engineers will be responsible for:

  • Complex problem solving, resolving issues related to manufacturing machinery ensuring minimal production downtime.
  • Investigating customer-reported defects relating to the process and machinery.
  • Driving continuous improvement projects such as IoT integration and condition-based monitoring, aimed at enhancing equipment performance and improving overall maintenance efficiency.
  • Supporting with the refurbishment, upgrading, and installation of new machinery.
  • Managing the lifecycle of machine parts, identifying obsolete components, and ensuring timely procurement and integration of replacement parts.
  • Working collaboratively with other Toyota sites across Europe to share best practices and contribute to ongoing kaizen activities focused on operational and process improvements.
  • Setting and managing the annual maintenance budget.
  • Overseeing contracts and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, including management of legionella control and lifting equipment safety protocols.

About you

To be considered for the Process Improvement Engineer role, you should have experience within the following:

  • Experience working within a high-volume or fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to manage complex caseloads, prioritise work, and deliver on projects within strict deadlines.
  • An understanding of maintenance on a variety of production machinery.
  • Understanding machine reliability and a proven track record of improving OEE.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to work independently where required.
  • A mind-set for continuous improvement, striving to always be better.
  • Qualified within an engineering discipline 2:1 or above.
