Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom is seeking a Process Engineering Lead to coordinate activities within the Process Engineering team and provide hands-on engineering support to Operations.

The role emphasises developing the roadmap, leading 1:1s, objective setting, budget management, and driving continuous improvement across production/test environments with strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities within the Process Engineering team and provide front-line engineering support to Operations.
• Plan, track, prioritise and assign team work with stakeholders and tracking systems.
• Define and coordinate resources for projects and improvement activities.
• Lead or coach 1:1s, team meetings, objectives and development discussions.
• Lead investigations and resolve production, build and test issues.
• Maintain the Process Engineering roadmap and report project status, priorities, risks and actions.
• Support management of the Process Engineering budget.
• Develop and improve test equipment capability, capacity, efficiency and reliability.
• Own yield analysis and resolution of build and test failures.
• Manage Turnbacks and supplier quality issues investigations.
• Maintain work instructions, Bills of Materials and component drawings.
• Plan and deliver preventative maintenance and calibration of production equipment.
• Manage changes into Production and support regional operations with equipment needs.
• Support new product introduction, process readiness, tooling, testing and training.
• Define monthly Process Engineering metrics and escalations.

Requirements

• Previous experience of providing day to day leadership, coaching and mentoring across a technical team, supporting 1:1s, objective setting and development discussions, or a clear desire and capability to develop in these areas.
• Organised, proactive and comfortable balancing hands‑on technical delivery with people leadership, ownership and accountability.
• Strong hands‑on engineering experience within a manufacturing, production or test environment.
• Experience investigating and resolving production, build and test issues.
• Experience working with production processes, test equipment, tooling, calibration or similar technical assets.
• Experience coordinating technical work, priorities and resources across a team.
• Experience supporting continuous improvement, process development and new product introduction.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working cross functionally across Engineering, Production, Quality and Purchasing.
• Experience with relevant engineering software and technical tools, such as CAD, basic scripting/programming (e.g. Python), ERP/MRP systems and other manufacturing/test technologies.
