About the role:

As a Process Engineering Supervisor you will manage resources within the Process Engineering discipline and be responsible for continued development of the capability in-line with business needs. Responsibilities typically include setting day-to-day operational objectives for individuals or teams, ensuring that policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed.

As well as ensuring operational excellence within the team, also provide technical leadership on single or multiple projects of varying complexity.

You will report to the Manager, Process & Equipment Engineering and be located at Westlakes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and promote process improvements and enhancements to increase quality of work products, drive standardization, and improve manufacturability.
  • Collaborating with Management, Engineers, and Stakeholders to gain process alignment.
  • Effectively leading activities and teams of engineers.
  • Setting day-to-day operational objectives for team
  • Responsible for the overall day-to-day administration, implementation and enforcement of the work
  • Act as the project's single point of authority and accountability for the process engineering discipline
  • Dependent on project scope, lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the clients responsible engineering team.
  • Responsible for the development key design deliverables such as Process drawings: Process Flow Diagrams and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams/Engineering Flow Diagrams.
  • Present Process engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related.
  • Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs
  • Production and checking of safety related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report.
  • Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions and develop programme logic at bid / tender stages.
Qualifications:
  • At least 12+ years' experience in industry at least 3 years at Principal Engineer level
  • Ideally 5+ years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or associated discipline
  • Chartered Member of the IChemE
  • Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied including (but not limited to) Pressure Equipment Regulations, COMAH, COSHH, DSEAR etc.Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of process design
  • Ability to undertake technical tasks and also disclose their technical limitations
  • Willingness to mentor more junior engineers and designers.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management, executive leadership and support staff
