Frazer-Nash is a values-driven and forward-thinking engineering, systems and technology consultancy. We help organisations deliver innovative engineering and technology solutions to make lives safe, secure, sustainable and affordable, and we specialise in using advanced digital engineering as part of these solutions to help our clients address high-value technical challenges.

We are a growing business, and we are developing and growing our process, fluid and heat transfer engineering services across a range of industries, particularly low carbon energy vectors, nuclear power and the process industry. Our people work across the varied range of Frazer-Nash clients.

What do we look for in a Process Engineering Consultant?

We are looking for people with a strong theoretical underpinning of process design and fluid flow, alongside good communication skills, with the ability to:
  • Support the process design of potentially complex fluid systems, including at pilot plant or test rig scale,
  • Support the safety assessment of plant, particularly where this involves novel clean energy systems,
  • Work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams developing safe designs for new facilities or modifications for existing plant,
  • Meet with clients to understand their needs, and support the production of proposals for work to address these,
  • Mentor, develop and encourage less experienced colleagues in planning and delivering process engineering work, and participating within the process engineering profession.
What will working as a Process Engineering Consultant be like?

We empower and support our engineers to deliver a wide range of projects throughout their careers, including:
  • Variety: Working on a wide range of projects, from short tasks lasting a few weeks to many years of sustained support, developing your skills through a diverse range of interesting and engaging work.
  • Teamwork: Working as part of a supportive group, you'll be proactive in developing your skills, reaching out to colleagues for advice and support when needed, and freely sharing your experience with colleagues to support their development.
  • Taking the lead: Managing all aspects of technical projects, including client communication, project delivery and other staff involved in the project.
  • Winning work: Developing new business by responding to enquiries and writing bids, and representing Frazer-Nash at client meetings, conferences and seminars.
  • Developing capability: Strengthening and developing our capabilities, aligning these to what our clients need now and will need in future.
  • Professional recognition: We value chartered engineer and fellow status, and we mentor and support our employees to achieve this.

The successful applicant will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • You'll have experience of designing process systems across a range of industries from concept through to detailed design, including the development of process simulations and P&IDs.
  • You'll have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team, and managing the complex interfaces associated with this.
  • You'll have a good understanding of the underpinning fluid flow and heat transfer behaviour that drives the selection and sizing of components, and the ability to apply this to unusual fluids and operating conditions.
  • You'll have experience of design reviews and HAZOPs.

  • You'll be able to use your communication skills to engage effectively with project stakeholders internally and externally, both verbally and through crisp and focused writing.
