Job summary

Stantec Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer to contribute to process design solutions across clean water and wastewater projects in the UK. You will work within multidisciplinary teams, develop technical skills and take ownership of key aspects of project delivery.

You will perform calculations, prepare reports and support lifecycle documentation while collaborating with other engineers to deliver integrated and sustainable water solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in process engineering within water, wastewater, utilities or related sectors.
• Experience undertaking process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments or treatment process design.
• Good understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes and engineering principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to develop practical engineering solutions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to manage your own technical tasks and contribute to project delivery.

Job description

As a Process Engineer , you'll contribute to the development and delivery of process engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of clean water and wastewater projects. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical skills while taking ownership of key aspects of project delivery. You will:

• Develop process design solutions for clean water and wastewater treatment projects.
• Undertake process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments and treatment process evaluations.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings and other project deliverables.
• Support the development and review of process design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to site investigations, asset assessments, process optimisation studies and technical workshops.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, civil and environmental engineers to develop integrated solutions.
• Engage with clients and project teams to understand requirements and help translate challenges into practical engineering solutions.
• Contribute to innovation, technical best practice and the development of more sustainable approaches to water and wastewater treatment.

• Experience in process engineering within the water, wastewater, utilities or related sectors.
• Experience undertaking process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments or treatment process design.
• Good understanding of water and/or wastewater treatment processes and engineering principles.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to manage your own technical tasks and contribute effectively to project delivery.

Desirable

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution such as CIWEM, IMechE, IChemE or ICE.
• Experience working on UK water company projects or within AMP programmes.
• Experience across clean water or wastewater treatment, including treatment optimisation, nutrient removal, emerging contaminants or resource recovery.
• Experience supporting site investigations, commissioning, pilot trials or process optimisation activities.
• Interest in digital innovation, sustainability and developing new approaches to water and wastewater treatment.
