The Global Engineering Services Team offers a full training plan and support network to help you grow and succeed within this role. The Middle Mile Engineering Programs team is seeking an experienced Amazon Process Engineer to support the expansion of Sort Centers in Europe. The Process Engineer plays a key role in the end-to-end delivery of launching new SCs or optimizing existing ones, driving improvements and standards to enable new SCs to achieve benchmark rates while ramping to meet network capacity. In this role, you will influence a team comprising Site Leads, Senior Operations Managers, Operation Managers, Area Managers, Project Managers, Process SMEs, Design Engineers, and representatives of various key stakeholders. This role requires someone knowledgeable about Yard and Under The Roof operations, structured, confident, and professionally and socially adept to earn credibility and trust with customers and stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

This position, based in Germany (Berlin), UK (London), Italy (Milan), Spain (Madrid or Barcelona), and France (Paris), involves up to 50% travel throughout EMEA, connecting with our Middle Mile operations and corporate offices across the region.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Ability to deliver results in an ambiguous environment concerning SC Operations and Yard.
  2. Support Yard and UTR related simulations to derive infrastructure requirements.
  3. Provide SC design inputs based on data-driven methodology.
  4. Build relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
  5. Use initiative and make decisions under pressure.
  6. Seek opportunities to drive year-on-year savings and performance/process improvements.
  7. Manage and report on weekly project metrics and lead high-profile meetings to align on project requirements.
  8. Work backwards from True North processes and available data to close gaps from current to desired state.
  9. Create Material Flow Diagrams.
  10. Provide data-driven process and engineering advice to leadership through written business documents.
  11. Learn and adapt to changing circumstances.
  12. Possess warehouse operational skills.

A day in the life

In cooperation with other GES stakeholders, including WWRE & Design, ACES/PE, AR, Ops, and others, the team aims to optimize building designs, modules, and processes, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and AA experience related to SC UTR and Yard. They will ensure future buildings, retrofits, and expansions meet operational excellence requirements and have cost-effective solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline), Operations, or a related field, with proven experience in the specialty.
  • Experience with automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing.
  • Experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, analysis, reliability, and decision-making.
  • Ownership/management experience of engineering design projects.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (any discipline), 2-5 years in Operations or related fields.
  • Language skills in French, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans, or Zulu are considered a plus.
