About the role:

We have an opportunity for a Process Engineer to join the North Sea business, initially deployed to the central North Sea (CNS) production delivery unit as a member of the ETAP facility support squad. The squad's mission is to keep the hydrocarbons in the pipe and keep equipment available to sustain planned production over the life of the facility.

The role provides a great opportunity to develop your process engineering skills, working on a varied range of tasks from engineering modifications, risk management activity, emissions reduction plans, reliability and production efficiency improvement.

There is a lot of interesting activity planned at ETAP, including the Murlach project and an infill drilling program at Mungo. This is a great opportunity to broaden your technical skills, help to deliver resilient oil and gas production while contributing to reductions in bp's operating emissions.

What you will deliver:
  • Provide process engineering support to ETAP, working closely with the site team and other engineers in the facility support squad to resolve issues.
  • Provide process engineering expertise to other teams by performing and reviewing process engineering calculations and analyses.
  • Support the delivery of MoCs and brownfield projects and modifications by advising on regulatory compliance, proposing deviations from technical practice/specifications, design reviews, procurement support for complex packages, assessing life cycle operability etc.
  • Provide process engineering input to hazard identification and risk assessment processes, such as MoCs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, HAZIDs, human factors analysis, what-Ifs, vulnerability studies, bow-ties and risk action plans.
  • Provides process engineering support to incident investigations and production deferral investigations.
What you will need to be successful:

Education requirements:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or equivalent

• Chartered Engineer

Essential skills:
  • Extensive technical understanding of process engineering, understanding of process modeling tools, good understanding of risk management tools and practices including the use of risk barrier diagrams
  • Proven ability in practical application of engineering standards and practices for process engineering.
  • Delivery focused and able to demonstrate effective application of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships
  • Ability and confidence to engage with and influence senior leadership on technical matters
Desirable skills:
  • Engaging, influencing and leading across teams and functions to deliver engineering improvements
  • Passion for excellence in project delivery and continuous improvement
  • Pragmatic decision maker, willing to challenge and ensure engineering value is delivered
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn from others and work with minimum direction.
  • Experience of agile working methods such as Kanban
  • Experience of upstream oil & gas operations
