POSITION SCOPETo support the optimisation and technical improvement of an area of the refinery. To identify and manage medium-sized projects within own area of responsibility, or work as part of a larger project team. To stand in for the Process Team Manager during holidays or absences as required.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES- Assist in managing the technical and plant-related aspects of Safety, Hygiene, Environment, and Quality, consistent with TALS procedures and targets to achieve continuous improvement and meet legislative and regulatory compliance.
- Develop systems to measure key plant technical performance and output quality standards.
- Identify projects to enhance safety, de-bottleneck, improve technical performance, or reduce costs.
- Assist in coordinating problem-solving efforts requiring technical input.
- Identify non-optimal plant operation (including utilities/energy use) and collaborate with Console and Field personnel to improve process operation.
- Contribute to the maintenance plan for an area by assisting in prioritising work to maximize benefits.
- Anticipate raw sugar quality-related problems and reduce their impact.
- Provide guidance to Shift and Process Team Managers on the most appropriate responses to process issues.
- Work with Console Operators to improve the handling of operational problems.
- Develop systems to monitor plant performance.
- Manage medium-sized projects (up to £100k).
- Participate as a process engineer on larger projects and liaise between projects and production.
- Update and develop key documentation, including process models, P&ID's, and line lists for the area of responsibility.

- Knowledge of safety management systems such as risk assessment, safety auditing, permits to work, etc.
- Some understanding of automatic control systems.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS- Educated to degree level, preferably in Chemical Engineering.
