ROCKWOOL UK, part of the world-leading stone wool insulation manufacturer, is seeking a Process Engineer at our Pencoed site in South Wales. You will drive process improvements, resolve production challenges, and support skills development across operations to meet safety, efficiency, quality and cost targets.

Reporting to the Process Manager, you will contribute to safe working practices, lead commissioning on capex projects, perform root-cause analyses, and coordinate trials to optimise

• Must have a degree in engineering or manufacturing.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry is required.
• Proven track record in lean, CI and operational excellence.
• Strong analytical and data management skills are essential.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Drive process enhancements to improve safety, environmental and sustainability targets.
• Support capex projects by defining functional descriptions and leading commissioning activities.
• Lead detailed investigations into production and process issues with root-cause analysis.
• Plan and oversee structured trials for materials, products and processes with stakeholders.
• Deliver measurable cost improvements by analysing variable production costs and budgeting input.
• Maintain accurate process settings and update SOPs; train production teams accordingly.
• Assist with plant shutdowns and downtime planning to improve OEE and productivity.

About the role

We are looking for a talented Process Engineer to drive process enhancements, resolve production challenges, and support skills development across our operations. Reporting to the Process Manager, you will help ensure our manufacturing processes consistently achieve safety, efficiency, quality, and cost performance targets in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What you will be doing

• Contributing to the achievement of the factory's safety, environmental, and sustainability targets by promoting safe working practices, meeting regulatory requirements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Contributing to successful completion of capex projects by specifying functional descriptions, being part of project teams and leading commissioning activities
• Leading detailed investigations into production and process issues, carrying out root cause analysis, involving cross-functional teams, and delivering robust, lasting solutions
• Planning, coordinating, and overseeing structured trials for materials, products, and processes, following Management of Change procedures and collaborating closely with stakeholders to optimise efficiency, quality, and consistency
• Delivering measurable cost improvements by analysing Variable Production Costs (VPC), identifying opportunities for savings, and supporting the plant's budgeting process with accurate, data-led input
• Maintaining precise process settings, communicating operational changes effectively to stakeholders, updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) in a timely manner, and providing training to develop the skills and knowledge of production teams
• Playing a key role in factory shutdown and downtime planning by identifying critical cleaning, maintenance, and upgrade requirements, assisting with the successful commissioning of new equipment, and implementing initiatives to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and productivity
