Process Development Engineer – R&D, Automotive Glass
Location: Lancashire
Salary: £33,000 – £42,000 per annum + Benefits
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A leading global glass manufacturing group is seeking a Process Development Engineer to join its Shaping Technology team within the Glazing Technology Group, part of the company’s Global R&D function. Based at the European Technical Centre in Lancashire, this role involves supporting process innovation for automotive glass production across global operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the development of industrial glass manufacturing processes for the global automotive market.
  2. Apply data analysis and digitalisation techniques to identify process trends and quality improvement opportunities.
  3. Conduct practically led development activities, using innovative thinking to improve environmental performance, quality, and efficiency.
  4. Gain knowledge of automotive glass specifications and contribute to technical support functions.
  5. Work within the R&D stage-gate project system, collaborating with global R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams.
  6. Develop capability to lead R&D projects in shaping technology.
  7. Travel globally as required for process development and support.
Candidate Requirements

  3. Proactive interest in technology and innovation.
  4. Customer-focused with strong communication skills.
  5. Willingness to travel globally for extended periods.
Technical Background:
  1. Degree in Mechanical/Materials Engineering or a Physical Science.
  2. Experience in a manufacturing environment, with knowledge of process control strategies.
  3. Proven background in Process or Product Development, or Quality Control.
  4. Strong analytical skills and experience analysing large datasets.
  5. Familiarity with digital tools and digitalisation in R&D contexts.
  6. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  7. European language skills (advantageous, not essential).
