Job Description:

Our Edinburgh-based client has an exciting opportunity and is currently hiring for a Process Development Chemist to join their growing company on a permanent basis.

Job Overview

This role involves discussions with potential customers to understand their production process requirements and how to meet those using the company's process technology solutions. The PDC will lead technical execution of in-house R&D projects, working with partners to support or conduct laboratory work. The role includes frequent online meetings with customers and partners, with potential travel to customer sites across Europe, North America, and Asia.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Organize and lead in-house process development (R&D) projects, coordinating with third-party subcontractors.
• Meet with potential customers to understand their chemical process needs and how to accommodate these with continuous processing technology.
• Work with the Technical Development Manager and Manufacturing team to devise suitable process solutions, including defining unit configurations.
• Research and develop expertise in chemistry and process requirements for targeted applications and contribute to funding applications for R&D projects.
• Contribute to product and documentation development for products/applications.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience in process development and scale-up in chemical, pharmaceutical, energetics, or related manufacturing industries, or relevant research experience.
• Ability to plan, execute development projects, analyze results, and produce high-quality reports.
• Experience communicating directly with customers on chemistry and process matters.
• Confident, professional, and able to communicate customer needs effectively to engineering teams.
• Customer-focused with a desire to deliver high-quality service.
• Inquisitive, questioning, and problem-solving mindset.
• Willingness to travel internationally and work independently.
