Job summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited is seeking a Process Controller for Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works on a permanent basis. You will be part of a team managing plant operation 24/7, using SCADA, and directing Process Technicians to ensure services meet standards.

Training will be provided for health & safety and process requirements. You will work 12-hour shifts, days and nights, with on-site responsibility when outside hours.

Qualifications

  • SCADA experience required.
  • Experience with wastewater processes preferred.
  • Must have driving licence and be able to operate company IT systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation of the Sewage Treatment Works and outstations.
  • Monitor, collate and report data to ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards.
  • Process faults and coordinate corrective actions or escalate as needed.
  • Perform isolations and issue permits to work as part of a safe system of work.
  • Assist with on-site capital projects and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Monitor stock levels and arrange deliveries as required.
  • Conduct safety and security checks and uphold health and safety for team.
  • Operate and monitor processes from the Control room using SCADA and conduct on-site inspections when required.

Job description

We are looking for a Process Controller to join Thames Water on a permanent basis.

Working as part of a team of process controllers you will be responsible for the effective running of Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works 24 hours a day.

This is done using SCADA and responding to specific situations to ensure the relevant processes are brought under control or escalated to an event. Out of hours you will be the responsible person on site and will direct the Process Technicians to ensure that services are delivered in accordance to standards.

Every working day is different at Maple Lodge, which provides a very interesting, challenging and rewarding working environment. You will be at one of the biggest sewage treatment works on the Thames Water Estate and will receive full training and support for the Health & Safety, technical and process requirements related to the plant.

What you will be doing as a Process Controller
  • Being responsible for the overall operation of the Sewage Treatment Works and associated outstations for the plant and equipment.
  • Monitoring, collating and reporting data in order to ensure that statutory and regulatory compliance is met and the site meets regulatory quality standards and customer demand.
  • Processing faults and advise suitable rectification by first fix, raising issues to the Site Management Team.
  • Carrying out isolations to plant and issuing Permits to work as part of a safe system of work.
  • Assisting with on-site capital project works, co-ordinate maintenance and operational personnel raising reactive work when required.
  • Monitoring stock levels and request and take deliveries as required.
  • Undertaking safety and security checks and taking responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues.
  • Operate and monitor the processes from the Control room using SCADA, and where necessary, go into the process area to carry out operations and when required, inspect the process area's.
  • Undergo training in safety procedures including confined space entry.

Must be a team player.

  • SCADA experience.
  • Wastewater process experience and the ability to coordinate & prioritise work.
  • Qualification in a technical discipline M, E or ICA would be advantageous (with Technical City and Guilds, ONC/OND, HNC/HND or equivalent)
  • You must be able to work unsupervised on 12-hour shifts days and nights.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
