My client is a manufacturer of organic chemicals for the Pharmaceutical, Agrochemical, Rubber, Polymer, Food & Beverage, and allied industries, operating in the West Midlands. They are recruiting for a Process Chemist.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assisting in identifying and evaluating opportunities for process improvement in collaboration with the Production department.
  2. Participating in Process Improvement Groups and supporting the use of the Britest Toolkit to guide decision-making.
  3. Conducting laboratory-based experiments to support proposed process changes.
  4. Providing support during the implementation of process changes, ensuring they are executed safely and effectively.
  5. Helping to analyse production data and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria
  • A degree (BSc or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • A strong interest in chemical manufacturing and process development.
  • Good understanding of fundamental chemical principles and reaction mechanisms.
  • Ability to work on a COMAH site and pass an enhanced DBS check.
Desirable Criteria
  • Masters degree (MSc, MChem) in a relevant discipline.
  • Industrial placement or internship experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or BRITEST.
  • Basic understanding of process safety, regulatory compliance (REACH, COSHH), or analytical techniques.
