A high-level graduate (BSc, MSc) of Chemistry with an interest or experience in synthetic chemistry is urgently required as a Chemist within process and manufacturing for a global company. With (preferably) industrial experience you will embark on activities including lab work (including synthesis and analysis), sample analysis, coordinating requests for blending and external analysis, lab safety improvements, product quality investigations, report writing and analytical evaluation of process changes at manufacturing plants.
As a Chemist, through laboratory work, you will support delivery of improvements in areas of process optimisation, manufacturing capacity and flexibility, new product development, and cost optimisation. You will also have opportunities to collaborate globally across the other teams e.g Technology, Procurement and Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Planning and execution of experimental programmes and associated analytical testing
  2. Efficient and safe operation, ownership and modification of lab equipment for synthesis and analysis
  3. Evaluations of new raw materials and component suppliers
  4. Analysis and insight in support of lab or plant troubleshooting, process optimisation, New Product Development projects and fundamental understanding activities
  5. Interpretation of experimental results/data and sharing technical information through reports, presentations and discussions
  6. Global exposure to numerous functions across the company and externally to third party plants and raw material suppliers
  7. Designing, planning and execution of experimental programmes and associated analytical testing with guidance from supervisor
  8. Operation in a Pilot Plant / Manufacturing unit and support process improvements and process safety activities
  9. Technical recommendations based on interpretation of experimental results/data
  10. Documentation of experimental results and learnings through knowledge management
  11. Enhanced problem solving, collaboration and influencing skills
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required:
  1. BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Process chemistry, Industrial chemistry, Synthetic chemistry or Materials Science or Polymer Science.
  2. Good process/pilot plant or manufacturing chemistry background (preferably), but not exclusively in the synthetic organic and/or analytical or polymer fields.
  3. Strong technical competencies with an aptitude for practical laboratory and/or pilot plant work and organic synthesis: experience in analytical chemistry techniques (LC/GC) would be an advantage
  4. Diligence to accurately manage test results, technical information, and lab records, combined with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations
  5. Preferably experience in an industrial setting - manufacturing or production or pilot plant setting
  6. Manufacturing plant experience is desirable but not essential.
