Process Chemist – Redruth, Cornwall – Permanent
Pay: £30 000- £40 000 + Benefits
Location:Redruth, Cornwall – Site based
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Start: Flexible for the right person

Carrington Wood is proud to be supporting our client, as they enter the next phase of development at their site, including the commissioning of a cutting-edge lithium demonstration plant.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Operating and optimising lithium extraction processes in both laboratory and plant settings
Contributing to the design, development, and scale-up of lithium recovery technology
Managing laboratory processes, including analysis and reporting
Supporting the commissioning and refinement of the lithium demonstration plant
Assisting in the design and future construction of a commercial-scale lithium facility
Working with power plant staff to address corrosion and scaling challenges
Ensuring health, safety, and environmental best practice in all operations

What We’re Looking For:

Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Experience in extractive or process chemistry (lithium or similar highly desirable)
Strong understanding of chemical interactions, with the ability to adapt and optimise processes
Knowledge of risk assessment techniques and commitment to HSE standards
Familiarity with the development of new technical processes in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work to tight deadlines and budgets

Desirable:
Experience with Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) methods such as ion-exchange or adsorption
Corrosion and scaling knowledge
A keen interest in renewable energy and Cornwall’s transition to net zero by 2030
