Job summary

Syngenta Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre seeks a Senior Process Chemist to drive process optimization for active-ingredient production. You will blend hands-on lab work with data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and deliver sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities include planning and executing experiments at multi-kilo scales, leading improvement projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. A strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or Masters in Chemistry with 2+ years industrial experience.
• Excellent practical skills in experimental and analytical techniques.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and carry out chemical experiments on new and existing active-ingredient processes, up to multi-kilo scale.
• Support the adoption and effective use of laboratory automation, digital tools and structured data practices; apply prior automation experience to identify suitable opportunities and help build team capability.
• Generate and lead improvement projects from planning through implementation
• Communicate with cross-functional teams to exchange information and progress development work
• Maintain detailed documentation in lab notebooks and technical reports
• Ensure compliance with site, company, and regulatory requirements
• Contribute to innovation through knowledge sharing and proactive idea development
