Job Description

Roc Search's client is seeking a Process and Tooling Engineer to support and improve manufacturing operations for ceramic production in Northampton. This role focuses on optimizing processes, ensuring product quality, and supporting production teams to achieve operational excellence. This role would suit someone with a background in Ceramics, Plastic Injection Moulding, or Casting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and improve ceramic manufacturing processes including material preparation, injection moulding, and firing.
  • Drive efforts to increase yield, reduce defects, and minimize cycle time.
  • Provide hands-on support to production teams, troubleshoot process issues, and implement effective corrective actions to maintain consistent throughput and quality.
  • Work closely with quality teams to ensure processes meet customer requirements and comply with Quality Management System standards, including AS9100.
  • Lead initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce waste across the production line.
  • Create detailed tooling build instructions and coordinate with external partners during tool development.
  • Specify and maintain equipment and tooling to ensure optimal function and safety.
  • Develop and maintain clear process documentation including work instructions and technical reports.
  • Support training initiatives to ensure operational consistency.
  • Work with R&D, production, and quality teams to support new product introductions and scale-up of new processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including handling of ceramic powders and liquid resins.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Knowledge of ceramics manufacturing processes, including material control and dimensional controls.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing tooling and fixtures.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate across functions and present technical data clearly.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar role/industry.

Salary: £46,000 - £50,000 per annum.
