Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Probation Officer to join our team in Barnet, London. As a Probation Officer, you will play a crucial role in the criminal justice system by working with individuals on probation to ensure their successful rehabilitation and reintegration into society. This position offers a competitive pay rate of £26.85 - £31.52per hour and provides the flexibility to support a healthy work-life balance.

Responsibilities:


  1. Case Management:
  2. Oversee a caseload of individuals on probation, conducting regular assessments to monitor progress.
  3. Develop and implement individualised rehabilitation plans based on risk and needs assessments.

  4. Counselling and Support:
  5. Provide counselling and support to individuals to address underlying issues contributing to criminal behaviour.
  6. Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support for probationers.

  7. Monitoring and Compliance:
  8. Monitor and enforce compliance with probation conditions.
  9. Conduct regular check-ins, drug testing, and home visits to ensure adherence to guidelines.

  10. Documentation and Reporting:
  11. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation.
  12. Prepare detailed reports for court hearings and other relevant stakeholders.

  13. Community Engagement:
  14. Establish and maintain positive relationships with community resources to facilitate successful reintegration.
  15. Organize and participate in community programs aimed at preventing recidivism.

  16. Crisis Intervention:
  17. Respond promptly to crises and emergencies, providing appropriate interventions and referrals.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in probation, parole, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of criminal justice procedures and rehabilitation principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
