Job description

Home/field based opportunities available in the following regions: East and West Midlands, North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, North West and Greater Manchester

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community.

The School of Law and Justice Studies within the faculty of Society and Culture is looking to appoint four home-based/field-based Probation Apprenticeship Coaches to support the delivery of the Probation Practitioner Apprenticeship Programme.

The programme is an externally funded programme and the team works in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service, and the regional areas that it has responsibility for. Candidates must have demonstrable experience of working in the Probation Service or in a Criminal Justice related setting and be able to evidence how they have worked with stakeholders in the past.

You will be required to develop and maintain a relationship with apprentices and their employers with the primary goal of providing the apprentices with the necessary coaching support required for them to complete the apprenticeship. You will additionally be required to work with key stakeholders, working together to integrate academic study with the specific responsibilities of the apprentices' work role.

This role requires regular travel to apprentices’ places of employment to carry out observations, conduct reviews, and liaise with employers to support successful qualification achievement. The regions to be covered are: East and West Midlands, North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, North West and Greater Manchester.

Informal enquiries can be made to Ester Ragonese (PQiP Programme Leader) on e.l.ragonese@ljmu.ac.uk

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support, as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.
