Holtec International seeks qualified applicants in its Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) discipline. The PSA specialist will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers engaged in designing Holtec’s flagship nuclear reactor SMR-300 managed by SMR LLC, a subsidiary of Holtec International. Holtec International is a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power sectors.

The PSA specialist will be responsible for supporting internal and external events probabilistic safety analysis evaluations of the SMR-300 plant throughout its design and construction phases. The role involves employing event tree and fault tree modeling methods to characterize the plant’s safety metrics, and participating in requirements development, detailed engineering analysis, and technical documentation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MS degree in Nuclear Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in PSA modeling, with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial or naval nuclear design and/or operation.
  • Experience in safety analysis of Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR).
  • Experience with computer codes such as CAFTA, MELCOR, RELAP, RADTRAD, GOTHIC, and others for NPP modeling and risk quantification, including Thermal-Hydraulic, Component Reliability, or Human Reliability Analysis.
  • Familiarity with the CAFTA suite and ability to perform system and plant level quantification, uncertainty, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Experience with PSA areas like cut set reviews, internal flood PSA, Low Power and Shutdown PSA, Fire PSA, Seismic Margins, High Winds, or External Flood analysis.
Responsibilities
  • Perform key PSA activities as part of the multinational team, including engineering analyses and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and vendors to identify and recommend design and operational improvements based on PSA risk insights.
  • Develop and implement PSA methodologies for internal and external events.
  • Conduct system and plant level quantification, uncertainty, and sensitivity analyses.
