Job summary

Smurfit Westrock currently advertises a Shift Engineer role at our Weston-Super-Mare site. The role focuses on proactive maintenance to increase machine uptime and support safety and quality standards within the Engineering department.

The position requires a strong FMCG background, hands-on fault finding with electrical/mechanical systems, and familiarity with SAP PM. Full-time, 4-shift rotation, with extensive development and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in an FMCG environment.
• Excellent communication and listening skills with internal and external parties.
• Strong literacy and numeracy with problem-solving ability.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
• Good IT skills and understanding of SAP PM.
• Driven, self-motivated with diagnostic skills.
• Team player across departments and with Engineering Cell Technicians.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic & steam systems.
• Fault finding on AC/DC drives (Siemens, ABB, SSD etc).
• Knowledge of Siemens S5, S7 & Allen Bradley PLCs.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Engineering, Conversion, Corrugator and Despatch teams.
• Lead successful completion of all breakdown activities.
• Assist in daily preventative maintenance strategy.
• Booking out and ordering engineering parts.
• Liaise with OEMs as required.
• Implement and endorse preventative/predictive maintenance systems (SAP PM).
• Daily involvement in mechanical & electrical activities providing support to operatives.
• Undertake additional tasks as directed by line manager.
