The Role

In this role, you will identify, investigate, and secure evidence of regulatory breaches and other applicable legislation. You will also develop and implement plans for proactive investigation, considering risk indicators to develop proposals for targeted proactive reviews.

As a Proactive Investigation Officer, you will conduct both desk-based and onsite investigations to protect the public interest and mitigate regulatory risks. Your responsibilities will include producing fair, accurate, and evidence-based reports to the highest standards of quality, making and articulating investigative decisions succinctly and clearly, and obtaining evidence from various sources during site visits.

Additionally, you will conduct interviews and obtain witness statements with solicitors, employees, and third parties in an authoritative and competent manner. You will manage and report on progress and key outcomes, represent the SRA at the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and/or Courts, and explain changes within the regulated legal sector to solicitors and employees. You will also collaborate across functions, compile and cross-reference complex investigation files, and liaise with other regulators, law enforcement, and external agencies.
