Join a network of over 1,400 volunteers and help drive positive change in the community.
Volunteer with Cranfield Trust - pro bono management opportunities in Newcastle and elsewhere in the North East.
Cranfield Trust is a leading provider of pro bono management support for the voluntary sector.
The Trust is a national charity and for over 30 years, we have been adding value to the lives of people across the country by providing free business skills to help build successful charities. Our remit for consultancy projects is to support organizations addressing human welfare issues such as poverty, disability, and social exclusion.
Every year, our network of over 1,400 highly skilled volunteer management consultants shares their knowledge and experience with charities by providing independent advice and support on topics ranging from business planning to charity governance, financial management, and marketing.
We are currently looking to recruit new volunteers to work with charities and non-profit organizations in and around Newcastle on specific projects or to join our mentoring programme.
NOTE: You don't need to have a charity sector background; however, the best service is provided by volunteers who have a first-hand appreciation of UK charities, either by having lived in the UK for at least 5 years or by having significant overseas experience working with charities.
Volunteering time, delivered face-to-face or remotely, ranges from 2 to 12 days, with projects typically lasting between 3 and 9 months, depending on volunteers' and clients' schedules. Projects are designed to fit around volunteers' work and personal commitments, rather than requiring solid blocks of time.
Mentoring is also an increasingly important part of our offering. Leaders of voluntary organizations find it valuable to have someone from outside the sector who asks the right questions, builds confidence, and brings a new perspective. Mentors may support organizational leaders personally or work with staff and trustees/Boards to support the organization as a whole.
We currently have several project inquiries in the Newcastle area with small to medium-sized charities.
Over the coming months, we will identify projects across the North East and are eager to recruit new volunteers to provide advice and support, helping charities in the region develop their management skills and confidence.
Most of our volunteers report learning a great deal from their projects—about managing resources, motivating people, and achieving much with limited means. Their help is highly valued by client charities, and volunteer feedback often highlights the significant contribution charities make to social issues affecting us all.
If you are a skilled management professional, confident operating as an independent management consultant or adviser, Cranfield Trust would love to hear from you. We typically recruit individuals with extensive expertise in independent management consultancy, suitable for mentoring work with CEOs and Boards of our client charities. Since you will be providing one-on-one support, experience working at a senior level within an organization is expected. You do not need significant charity sector experience, as we can support you in that regard.
