Volunteer with Cranfield Trust - pro bono management and business support opportunities in Wales.
Cranfield Trust is a leading provider of pro bono management support for the voluntary sector.
The Trust is a national charity with over 30 years of experience in adding value to the lives of people across the UK by providing free business skills to help build successful charities. Our consultancy and mentoring projects support organisations addressing issues of poverty, disability, and social exclusion.
Annually, our network of over 1,400 highly skilled volunteer management consultants shares their knowledge and experience with charities, offering independent advice on business planning, charity governance, IT, financial management, HR, and marketing.
We are currently recruiting new volunteers to work with charities and non-profit organisations across Wales on specific consultancy projects or to join our mentoring programme.
Note: You do not need a charity sector background, but volunteers with at least 5 years of UK-based experience or significant overseas experience working with charities provide the most effective support.
Volunteering involves face-to-face or remote input, ranging from 2 to 12 days, with projects typically lasting 3 to 6 months. Projects are designed to fit around volunteers' and clients' schedules, rather than requiring long blocks of time.
Mentoring is an increasingly important aspect of our work. Organizational leaders find value in having external mentors who ask insightful questions, build confidence, and offer new perspectives. Mentoring can support individual leaders or entire organizations, working with staff and trustees/Boards.
We currently have project enquiries in Rhondda Cynon Taff with small to medium-sized charities and plan to identify projects across all regions of Wales in the coming months. We seek volunteers to provide advice and support to help charities develop their management skills and confidence.
Most volunteers report gaining valuable insights into resource management, motivating teams, and achieving significant results with limited resources. Their support is highly valued by client charities, and their feedback highlights the vital role charities play in addressing social issues.
If you are a skilled management professional with at least 5 years of senior-level experience, confident in operating as an independent management consultant or adviser, Cranfield Trust would love to hear from you. While charity sector experience is not required, we can support you in gaining sector-specific knowledge.
