Full time hours on a temporarybasis

We are seeking an experienced and driven Housing Team Leader to lead our private sector housing operations. This role focuses on improving housing conditions, health, and safety across privately rented and owner-occupied properties through expert advice, regulation, enforcement, and strategic project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead investigations into poor housing conditions, including HMOs, ensuring compliance with housing legislation and internal standards.
  • Undertake complex and high-profile casework, including detailed property surveys and investigations.
  • Supervise inspections, assess risks using the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS), and prepare schedules of work.
  • Manage a team of up to 4 staff across multiple locations and shifts, overseeing a budget of £150K–£300K.
  • Deliver a responsive service that supports residents and enables landlords to meet their legal obligations.
  • Implement and monitor licensing schemes and housing management regulations.
  • Lead enforcement actions, including serving notices, preparing case files, and attending legal proceedings.
  • Organise and lead landlord and tenant engagement events, signposting to relevant support services.
  • Ensure high standards of service delivery and contribute to a positive working environment that supports career development.
Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, including HHSRS and HMO regulations.
  • Experience managing complex housing cases and leading enforcement actions.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
