Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Private Sector Housing Officer to carry out enforcement functions, including enabling the Council to meet its statutory obligations of private sector housing through inspection, enforcement, education, and advice, operating in a customer-facing front-line environment representing Harrow Council in often challenging circumstances, performing enforcement functions between 25% to 40% from an office base and between 60% to 75% from site-based visits to premises in Harrow Council while carrying appropriate equipment, working as part of an enforcement team in accordance with statutory requirements and in compliance with relevant Council policies and procedures, and representing the Council as a duly authorised Officer to educate and work in partnership with relevant internal and external organisations to enhance the safety and wellbeing of the public.

About You
  • Have a good knowledge of the range of legislation enforced by the Private Sector Housing Team.
  • Full current driving licence
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a demanding and pressurised environment independently and as a team.
  • High standard of written and verbal presentation and communication skills
  • Competent in the use of standard computer systems
  • Aptitude for the technical and legal aspects of the discipline
  • Inclusive team worker who can foster partnerships work Collaboratory across teams to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours as may be necessary including response to emergency situation.
