Job summary

Exclusive Household Staff is seeking an experienced Groundsman to join a private family's country residence in Dorset. The role involves maintaining and developing the estate to high standards, working with the House Manager, and being available for 18 weeks occupancy plus weekends.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of groundskeeping experience, strong horticultural knowledge, and the ability to operate garden machinery.

Qualifications

• Private gardens, country estates or similar environments experience.
• Minimum three years' groundskeeping or estate maintenance experience.
• Strong horticultural knowledge and practical gardening skills.
• Experience operating and maintaining garden machinery.
• Professional, discreet and flexible approach.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a wider household team.
• Dog-friendly attitude and valid UK driving licence.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Maintain estate grounds to an exceptional standard.
• Lawn care, mowing and general grass maintenance.
• Hedge cutting, pruning and seasonal garden care.
• Planting and cultivation across formal gardens and growing areas.
• Vegetable garden and fruit tree management.
• Orchard care and maintenance.
• Paddock upkeep.
• Pond, river and weir maintenance.
• Tree monitoring and general estate care.
• Log cutting, storage and fire preparation.
• Fire building and management during family stays.
• Storm preparation, recovery and estate safety checks.
• Operating and maintaining garden machinery and equipment.
• Basic estate repairs and general maintenance.
• Vehicle care and support duties as required.
• Security checks and routine property inspections.
• Liaising with contractors when required.
• Supporting family arrivals and departures.
