We are looking for an Underwriter to join our Private Clients team here at Covéa Insurance.

Covéa Insurance
offer a wide range of home, motor and commercial insurance backed by our award-winning customer service. Our purpose is to “help protect people against the worst happening and put it right if it does". It’s the reason we are here, and it’s the task we all focus on every day.

In this role, you will actively contribute and assist the HNW department in achieving the budgeted new business GWP, retention and rate strength targets, whilst providing first class service. You will develop and maintain excellent relationships to assist with the profitable growth of our HNW accounts.

This role is based onsite at our Halifax office. We find that working together in the office increases collaboration and engagement, and also supports your development too!

What will I be doing?

  • Underwriting and processing new business, renewals, and adjustments across all HNW teams, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Covéa’s SLAs
  • Managing a personal portfolio in line with service, technical, and compliance standards
  • Demonstrating technical competence in underwriting mid and high net worth cases within authority limits and Covéa’s risk appetite
  • Contributing to departmental profitability and retention through proactive prospecting and lead generation.
  • Assessing risks with consideration of claims history and risk management insights, consulting specialists when needed
  • Maintaining strong product knowledge and provide input on product development and risk appetite
  • Building and maintaining internal and external relationships, attending meetings and events as required
  • Supporting projects and initiatives, taking ownership of areas aligned with your expertise
  • Mentoring junior team members and assisting with training and referrals
  • Striving to meet and exceed annual performance goals

You should apply if you have…

  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to work to a deadline
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external parties
  • MI and analytical skills
  • Strong collaboration skills when working with other HNW teams, with the ability to act as a coach and/or mentor
  • Drive to achieve the highest professional standards, acting well on feedback and constantly seeking to improve their performance
  • Excellent listening skills when supporting others; demonstrating understanding with appropriate follow-up actions
  • A “can do” attitude – identifying any challenges and proactively seeking solutions
  • Experience within HNW or personal lines insurance
  • Cert CII or working towards Dip CII Qualifications is desirable but not essential

We understand that some candidates may be hesitant to apply for a position if they do not meet all the criteria listed in the job description. At Covéa, we are dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. Therefore, if you are interested in applying for this role but do not fully meet all the requirements, we still encourage you to submit your application.

What’s on offer?

  • Annual pay review and performance related bonus
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays, with the option to buy/sell holidays
  • Continued professional development through internal training programmes, professional qualifications and apprenticeships

  • A range of health benefits such as access to a 24/7 Virtual GP, free eye tests, flu jabs and the option to opt into private medical insurance
  • Tusker Car Scheme - salary sacrifice scheme which lets you drive away a brand new, fully maintained and insured car for up to four years.
  • Generous pension scheme with a 7.5% minimum employer pension contribution, matched to maximum of 9% dependant on your contribution
