A leading accountancy firm seeks a Tax Advisor to support the Tax Manager in delivering compliance and advisory services to private clients, trusts, and estates. The role involves managing tax compliance matters, preparing tax returns, and maintaining client relationships. To support the Tax Manager in delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services to a portfolio of private clients, trusts, and estates. The role involves preparing personal and trust tax returns, maintaining strong client relationships, liaising with HMRC and third parties, and assisting with technical and advisory projects. Key Responsibilities:
Manage tax compliance matters for a broad range of private clients, trusts, and estates, ensuring deadlines are met and service quality is consistently high.
Prepare self-assessment and trust tax returns, including the collection and organisation of all necessary financial data.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients through regular and proactive communication.
Deal with correspondence from HMRC, clients, and third-party advisors in a timely and professional manner.
Support the tax and trust management team with a variety of ad hoc tasks, including both compliance and advisory work.
Conduct technical research into tax legislation to support client work and maintain personal technical knowledge.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience & Skills:
3–4 years’ experience in a private client tax and/or trusts-focused role within a UK accountancy or legal environment.
Adaptable and proactive, with a strong sense of personal accountability.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; confident in building relationships with clients and colleagues.
Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate, timely work under pressure.
Organised and efficient with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Proficient IT skills, including tax software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
Qualifications:
Studying towards or qualified ATT / STEP is preferred.
Candidates studying for ACA or ACCA in a mixed tax/accounts role will also be considered if keen to specialise in private client tax.
Study support is available for the right candidate to progress to CTA.
