Senior Associate – Private Client Tax

The Private Client team in Reading comprises around 8 professionals and is part of a larger tax team of approximately 30, offering corporation tax, VAT, and other specialist services. This role focuses on managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely tax compliance, and providing tax advice.

Requirements
  • ATT and/or CTA qualification or near qualification (preferred).
  • Experience managing a portfolio of private clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with CCH and IRIS is advantageous.
  • Strong client service passion.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and results-oriented.

Your Client Responsibilities

You will manage taxation relationships with clients, ensuring compliance with filing and payment obligations, and providing proactive tax advice. Typical tasks include:

  • Managing personal tax relationships for individuals and some family trusts.
  • Overseeing the personal tax compliance cycle, liaising with HMRC, and adapting to changes such as MTD.
  • Delegating and reviewing work of tax assistants.
  • Communicating with third parties like investment managers and banks.
  • Handling HMRC inquiries and providing technical tax advice.
  • Participating in tax advisory services and client meetings for tax planning.
  • Supporting other tax areas post-peak season, with training provided.
