We are a leading accountancy and advisory firm, known for delivering bespoke, high-quality tax advice to a prestigious portfolio of private clients. Our Guildford office plays a vital role in supporting high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, family offices, and trustees across the South East and beyond.
As part of our strategic growth, we are looking for a Private Client Tax Manager who is passionate about building trusted relationships and delivering tailored tax planning solutions.
As a Private Client Tax Manager, you will be a key adviser to our private clients, offering strategic guidance on complex personal tax matters. You’ll manage a varied portfolio while playing a leadership role within the team.
Tax Advisory: Deliver high-quality tax planning advice covering income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, trusts, and estate planning
Client Management: Act as the primary point of contact for your portfolio, building and maintaining long-term relationships with individuals, families, and their advisers
Compliance Oversight: Review self-assessment tax returns, trust returns, and supporting computations prepared by junior staff
Risk and Technical Excellence: Ensure compliance with risk management procedures and keep abreast of UK tax legislation
Team Leadership: Mentor and support more junior team members, contributing to their development and performance
Business Development: Assist with proposals, networking, and identification of new service opportunities within your client base
You are a confident, technically proficient tax professional who enjoys working closely with clients and solving complex, often sensitive tax issues.
CTA and/or ACA/STEP qualified (or equivalent)
Strong experience in private client tax within a UK practice environment
In-depth understanding of UK personal tax legislation, trusts, IHT, CGT, and ideally, residency and domicile rules
Proven ability to lead client relationships and manage a portfolio independently
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-specialists
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
A genuine interest in developing junior colleagues and contributing to a supportive team culture
Commercial acumen and confidence in identifying new advisory opportunities
