Job Description

Purpose of Role

As an Assistant Manager, you will be part of the delivery team to ensure that the annual tax compliance work is completed and to assist on planning opportunities and work in a team delivering for a wide-ranging portfolio of clients.

Responsibilities:

Client compliance work

  • Delivering high-quality service to clients
  • Responsible for a portfolio of clients which may include sole traders, partners, HNWIs, non-UK domiciliaries, non-UK residents, partnerships, and trusts
  • Ensuring administration of the portfolio is completed including all aspects of compliance, accounts, tax returns, and tax computations
  • Ensuring all beneficial elections and claims are made

Client planning work

  • Identifying possible planning opportunities
  • Preparing reports for clients
  • Attending client meetings
  • Answering client ad-hoc questions and enquiries regarding their personal tax affairs

Yearly routine checks and compliance

  • Ensuring Evelyn Partners procedures on the annual tax cycle are followed
  • Collating and maintaining client information
  • Client billing and time analysis

Training and development

  • Attend internal training sessions

Assisting Colleagues

  • Provide support to colleagues on chargeable and non-chargeable work when required

Practice Development

  • Involved in business development activities/profile raising locally
  • Able to take advantage of marketing/PR opportunities

Qualifications

  • Planning and Organising - Must be able to plan workload to prioritize work to meet deadlines and cope with pressure.
  • Written and Oral communication - Good written communication skills are necessary to draft correspondence with clients and HMRC to explain technical issues clearly; good interpersonal skills to liaise with clients and staff.
  • Customer Focus - Meeting deadlines and responding to client needs.
  • Teamwork - Support colleagues and support Directors above.
  • Maintain Technical Expertise

Education and Qualifications:

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience gained within a professional services firm.
  • Good knowledge of personal tax compliance and some exposure to planning/advisory work.
