Private Client Solicitor – Basingstoke – Permanent

Nicholas Howard have an exciting opportunity for a Private Client Solicitor to join a small and growing law firm with a focus on Wills, trusts, probate and estate planning. We are open minded to full time or part-time candidates with 2+ years post qualification experience in this area of law.

The small practice is staffed by solicitors and a tax advisor and is looking for someone who wants to deal with all aspect of client facing work alongside having full responsibility for running and managing their own cases. We believe in providing a highly personal service to each client; we really want a lawyer with personality and a genuine desire to engage with and assist clients. We are linked to a wider group of accountants and business advisors leading to interesting work with clients with personal wealth or business interests.

We need a genuine team player who is happy to get stuck in. Whilst we have some admin support everyone needs to be hands on with case management. If you want to delegate to secretaries and paralegals then this role is not for you! We are looking for someone who can build friendly client relationships and become a trusted advisor.

The practice has plans to grow and we want someone to help with this and progress their career at the same time. You will have the ability to get involved with strategic planning for the business and therefore there are great opportunities for development.

Key Activities:

  • Conducting private client and related matters, including trust creation and administration.
  • Maintaining existing relations with the firm’s clients, assisting to develop new relationships with third party referrers.
  • Maintaining orderly and up-to-date files.
  • Completing time recording and other management records.
  • Liaising with clients, so you should demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy and sensitivity in all your communications.
  • Liaising with other professionals e.g. financial advisers and accountants.
  • Financial control of your own matters with particular regard to cash flow and billing procedures.
  • Recognising and developing fee-earning opportunities.

You will be personable, approachable and with a genuine interest in dealing with individuals, their families and businesses.
