The BDO US-led private client practice focuses on serving the key US market, which has a unique tax system requiring US persons to comply regardless of tax residence. Despite global changes, the US remains a vital market for entrepreneurs and families, with complex planning and support needs related to foreign structures, trusts, pensions, and investments. Our services combine US expertise with UK and other international requirements, targeting HNW and SHNW clients. This market is growing as clients seek comprehensive advisory services that differentiate BDO in the industry.

Our rapidly expanding Private Client Team manages funds, businesses, and trusts for individuals, families, and entrepreneurs. You will tackle technical challenges while building strong relationships, becoming a trusted advisor to clients and overseeing their tax affairs aligned with their personal and business goals.

You’ll need excellent interpersonal skills and strong technical knowledge to serve clients worldwide. Responsibilities:

• Leading client relationships with proactive advisory and adaptable approaches for a demanding client base
• Delivering detailed US/UK written advisory memos on topics like pre-US and pre-UK residency tax planning, succession, trusts, structuring, and pensions
• Utilizing UK/US treaties effectively
• Handling complex foreign tax credit scenarios and planning solutions
• Proven ability to win new work and build a reputation in the marketplace
• Collaborating with lawyers, wealth advisors, and other professionals supporting UHNW clients with US aspects
• Preparing complex UK and US tax returns (Forms 1040, 1040NR, 3520, 5471, 8858, 8865, etc.)
• Presenting on US PCS tax topics internally and externally
• Building strong collaborative relationships with other teams
• Supporting training and development of junior team members in US advisory skills
• Driving continuous improvement in efficiencies and strategic offerings
• Developing a fast-growing US/UK Private Client practice
• Finding practical solutions, collaborating, and persevering through challenging work

Requirements:

• US Enrolled Agent (EA) and ATT qualifications
• Extensive US and UK private client experience with UHNW families and family offices
• Proven experience delivering written advisory reports
• Ability to lead complex projects involving US and foreign matters
• Passion for making a significant impact in a dynamic team
• Advisory experience in HNW teams
