Job description

On behalf of our client, a respected and well-established law firm based in Newquay, we are pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join their Private Client department.

This position will involve providing key administrative and legal support across a broad range of Private Client matters, including Wills, Probate, Powers of Attorney, and Estate Administration. The successful candidate will work closely with solicitors and other team members, assisting with day-to-day tasks and client liaison, while helping to ensure the smooth running of client files.

This is an ideal role for someone with prior experience in a legal support role or a candidate who is looking to build a long-term career in Private Client law within a supportive and friendly practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting fee earners with the preparation and management of Private Client files
  • Drafting letters and basic legal documents under supervision
  • Liaising with clients, third parties, and professionals by telephone, email, and post
  • Managing diary entries, appointments, and deadlines
  • Filing, photocopying, and maintaining accurate records and client data
  • Assisting with matter opening and closing procedures, and compliance-related tasks

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience as a legal assistant or a Law Graduate, ideally with exposure to Private Client work
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communication skills and a professional, client-focused approach
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
  • A team player with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
