Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of private client matters, including wills, trusts, estate planning, and probate
  • Draft, review, and update wills, ensuring they accurately reflect clients' wishes and comply with current legislation
  • Prepare and register Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) for both property and financial affairs and health and welfare
  • Manage the administration of estates, including obtaining grants of probate, dealing with inheritance tax issues, and distributing assets to beneficiaries
  • Advise on and implement tax-efficient estate planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals and families
  • Handle trust creation, administration, and termination, including drafting trust deeds and advising trustees on their duties and responsibilities
  • Provide counsel on issues related to mental capacity and Court of Protection matters
  • Assist with the preparation of Deputyship applications and ongoing management of deputyships
  • Collaborate with other departments and external professionals (e.g., accountants, financial advisors) to provide comprehensive solutions for clients
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant legislation and case law, ensuring compliance and best practices in all areas of private client work
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing a high level of customer service and support
  • Contribute to the firm's business development efforts by participating in networking events, seminars, and other marketing initiatives
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
  • Manage your own caseload efficiently, meeting deadlines and maintaining accurate records
  • Prepare clear and concise legal documents, correspondence, and reports for clients and internal use
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Qualified solicitor with a valid practicing certificate in England and Wales
  • 1-10 years of post-qualification experience in private client work
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in drafting wills, LPAs, and other private client documents
  • Strong understanding of estate planning, probate, and trust law
