Job description

New! - Our client is a leading Legal 100 firm with an excellent reputation for their stellar Private Client practice, frequently handling high-profile, high-value matters including complex estate administration, offshore trusts, tax concerns, and wills and probate issues.

Due to growth, a unique opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Private Client Associate (1 PQE) to join their team in Buckinghamshire and play an integral role in the future development of the practice.

Hybrid flexibility to work remotely applies.

We are seeking an individual with solid experience (minimum 1-2 PQE), preferably in general succession and tax planning, estate administration, and trusts work. More senior individuals will also be considered.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop experience in a broad-based team, recognized for providing a real alternative to the City for complex private client matters given the quality of their offering.

The Chambers-rated Private Wealth Team works predominantly with high-net-worth individuals (typically with personal assets of £5m-£20m) across the full spectrum of private client matters.

This will include, but not be limited to:

  1. Lifetime and succession planning.
  2. Advising on the structure of Wills as part of estate planning.
  3. Lasting Powers of Attorney.
  4. The creation, administration, and winding up of trusts.
  5. Estate administration.
  6. Meeting clients regularly to advise on these matters.

Desirable skills, experience, and attributes

  • Extensive experience in probate, Wills, trusts, tax, CGT work, declarations of trust, Court of Protection, Deputyships, and LPAs.
  • Ability to undertake fee-earning work independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintaining existing client relationships and developing new ones with third-party referrers.
  • Collaborating with other departments on joint projects.
  • Participating in the growth and development of the department, including client acquisition and marketing.
  • Compliance with the firm’s policies and procedures, including maintaining the client database and adhering to regulations.
  • Keeping legal knowledge up to date and pursuing ongoing professional development.

The private client team is a vital part of the firm, contributing significantly to its turnover.

Representative cases include:

  • Working with wealthy families on succession and tax planning over generations.
  • Advising clients on inheritance tax aspects of business reorganizations.
  • Handling complex international probate cases involving assets in multiple countries.
  • Collaborating with entrepreneurs on trust structures and their revisions.
  • Providing estate and trust planning for landed estate clients.

This is a genuine opportunity to progress your career with a top-tier practice and work with leaders in the field.

The firm offers tailored solutions for legal and tax structuring, family and business governance, estate planning, and support for vulnerable persons.

Experience advising high-net-worth clients, family offices, or international families would be advantageous.

You will advise on ongoing affairs and international trust structures, including private trust company structures, and work closely with business families on governance and estate planning.

A competitive financial package is on offer.
