Job description

Role Introduction

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a critical role within our Legal & Compliance team, helping to improve and maintain our Privacy by Design and by Default programme. They will serve as the technical bridge between Legal & Compliance and Security teams by translating privacy by design principles into implementable privacy by default controls and specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of global privacy laws along with technical privacy skills. The candidate will work closely with Legal & Compliance and R&D teams, reporting to our Legal Director – Privacy, Cyber & AI.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include:

  • Improving and maintaining our Privacy by Design and by Default programme
  • Conducting privacy impact assessments (PIAs), identifying and mitigating risks across the company through tools, training, and guidance
  • Collaborating with data protection, legal, cybersecurity, product, and engineering teams to align privacy principles from the early stages of development and ensure compliance
  • Guiding and developing new privacy products, features, and tools
  • Responding to privacy incidents with analysis and remediation
  • Maintaining documentation and data lifecycle management
  • Staying updated on global privacy regulations
  • Implementing data anonymisation, pseudonymisation, and encryption protocols
  • Communicating progress, escalations, and issues to stakeholders
  • Optimising privacy controls and creating KPIs to measure programme effectiveness
  • Developing technical privacy training for product and engineering teams
What You Will Have

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to influence without authority and manage risks in complex situations
  • Experience working with global, multi-functional teams
  • Knowledge of privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs)
  • Experience with PIAs and methodologies
  • Understanding of privacy challenges in AI and machine learning
  • Familiarity with software design tools and languages
  • Understanding of software design for multi-platform applications
  • Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals
  • Data literacy and experience managing large datasets
  • Ability to champion privacy in technical discussions and explain concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in computer science, engineering, information systems, privacy engineering, or related field
  • CIPT certification preferred
  • Strong software and AI development skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in privacy/data protection or related graduate studies
