Overview

Position: Prisoner Working Supervisor (CRED)
Location: On-site. HMP Winchester, Romsey Rd, Winchester SO22 5DF
Salary: £34,931.68 per annum
Contract: Full time - Permanent, Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.

We are seeking an experienced trades-person to join our team at HMP Winchester, a category B adult male local prison as a Prisoner Working Supervisor, with the CRED (Clean, Rehabilitative, Enabling & Decent) scheme.

Responsibilities / What you will do

• Mentor others and work collaboratively to achieve objectives and overcome challenges.
• Act as a guardian who advocates for fair treatment and opportunity for all; utilise experience and a calm nature to build, advocate for and implement projects where Prisoner rehabilitation is supported by maintenance works within the prison estate.
• Encourage and empower specially chosen Prisoners to make a physical difference to their environments.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Understanding of prisons and the prisoner working systems or a willingness to learn - Desirable
• Understanding of how to use tools and equipment to complete small scale refurbishments - Essential
• Knowledge of working safely and putting health and safety principles into practice - Essential
• Experience in managing small scale refurbishments and projects - Essential
• Experience of supervising staff - Essential
• Self-motivation with a positive 'can do' approach to work - Desirable
• Experience managing relationships with various stakeholders - Desirable
• A trade or building qualification of some description such as carpentry, painting and decorating, plumbing or electrics - Desirable
• If you don\'t hold a trade or building qualification, demonstrable experience is essential

Future Plans.
GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL\'s services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
