We operate 24/7, covering various early and late shifts, hrs pw. Flexibility is essential due to the nature of the role, which involves different working arrangements and additional hours. While some days may have unpredictable finishing times, we operate a rota system (provided weeks in advance) to help you enjoy meaningful time off.
As a PCO at our court, you’ll work as part of a team to provide safe and secure escorting and custody services for detainees, focusing on their physical and mental wellbeing.
During court, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of detainee care until they return to custody or are released. Key duties include accompanying defendants in courtrooms and cells, searching property or individuals, ensuring food and drink are available, and completing paperwork and data entry.
Our current PCOs come from diverse backgrounds; previous experience is not essential. What matters is your commitment to making a difference in others’ lives. You will learn during our 5½-week training course and through support from experienced colleagues.
Ideally, you’ll have a valid driver’s license, be reasonably fit, and possess good written and verbal communication skills to manage and control various situations. Those with an interest in criminology or psychology may find this role particularly suitable.
