Prison Support Role at HMP Leyhill – Part Time, 18.5 hours per week. Salary up to £23,226 (including allowances and unsocial hours) plus excellent benefits.

As part of our Operational Support team, you'll receive comprehensive training to handle various scenarios, with opportunities for progression. Whether aiming to become a qualified Prison Officer or exploring other career paths, this entry-level role offers purpose and growth.

Salary ranges from £21,468 to £25,744 based on location, with benefits including:

Your Role

Prisons operate 24/7, requiring shift work including nights and weekends. Your contact with prisoners will vary, with training provided to handle all situations.

Initial two-week paid training covers prison security and safety, followed by local training including personal protection safety.

Your duties will include:

  • Welcoming visitors and supervising visits
  • Processing documentation and managing property
  • Supervising prisoner movements
  • Patrol and gate duties
  • Monitoring CCTV and phone calls
  • Security checks, searches, and contraband reporting
