Location: HMP Ashfield, Bristol
Working hours: Full-Time, hours per week / Part-Time hours available upon request.
As the Operational Support Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Reporting directly to the Custodial Operations Manager and carrying out duties as assigned.
- Monitoring CCTV and radio systems, alerting staff when alarms are raised, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Conducting routine net test calls and cell call checks.
- Managing access in the Gatehouse, including searching vehicles and staff when required.
- Assisting with vehicle escorts around the establishment.
- Allocating BWVC and managing equipment.
- Supporting the Command suite if needed.
- Participating in exercises and contingency planning.
- Performing any other OSO-related duties.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum GCSE Maths & English grade C or above, or equivalent. Good IT skills.
- Knowledge of security procedures. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Good communication skills with external agencies.
- Experience in a secure environment or with similar client groups is desirable but not mandatory.
Skills and Abilities:
- Organizational and analytical skills.
- Team player with flexibility, interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with visitors, staff, and prisoners.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to monitor and audit processes.
- Report writing skills; numeracy skills for interpreting and presenting statistics.
- Trustworthiness and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Full driving license.
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights.
