Job summary

HMP Moorland in South Yorkshire is seeking a Substance Misuse Nurse to join the prison's multidisciplinary team. The role centers on assessment, recovery planning and treatment, delivered one-to-one and in groups, with medication monitoring and liaison with prescribers.

Shifts run seven days a week, with one weekend in four and bank holidays included. NMC registration is required, and the RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse is needed or a commitment to undertake it.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with NMC registration.
• RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse, or willingness to undertake it.
• Evidence of continued professional development.

Responsibilities

• Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop individualised recovery plans as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Deliver clinical and psychosocial interventions in group and one-to-one settings, with recovery at the centre of care
• Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and liaise with prescribers
• Provide advice and information to individuals on a one-to-one basis
• Support group work delivery and clinical interventions alongside prescribers and Recovery Practitioners
• Run clinics integrated with primary care
• Occasionally support dispensing
• Encourage patient involvement in regime and therapeutic activities
• Create a physical and psychological environment conducive to high quality care
