Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is offering Fixed Term Contracts for two years as Operational Support Grade positions in Yorkshire & The Humber. You will help run a busy prison, carrying out patrol and gate duties, supervising visitors, managing deliveries and monitoring CCTV and phone systems.

Shifts and nights are required to keep operations running. Benefits include 25 days' annual leave (rising to 30), 9 bank/privilege holidays, a Level 2 apprenticeship in customer service, the Civil Service

Qualifications

• Fixed Term Contract for two years.
• Willingness to work shifts and nights to keep operations running.

Responsibilities

• gate/portal duties: ensure secure entry/exit and search staff, prisoners, and visitors
• control room: operate radio and monitor CCTV; report suspicious activity
• visits: book and process visitors on arrival
• censors/correspondence: monitor mail and preserve evidence
• night duties: ensure cells are secure and prisoners accounted for
• reception: assist with documentation and property checks
• prisoner supervision and movement
• food delivery and prison logistics
• driving duties: transport prisoners and collect mail
