Job Title: Healthcare Assistant at HMP Chelmsford

As a Healthcare Assistant based at HMP Chelmsford, your days will be rewarding and varied. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing high-quality patient care under the guidance of qualified nurses and therapists
• Setting up and preparing for clinics and supporting patients attending clinics

Main Responsibilities

Within this role, you will:

1. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team, participating in procedures and duties in accordance with agreed standards relevant to the role
2. Participate in the assessment process of care needs and implement programmes of holistic care within set standards
3. Extend current practice in line with policy, including dispensing prescribed medication under supervision
4. Undertake all aspects of medicines management activities, such as medicine administration, understanding supervised and in-possession medicines, ordering, storage, and transportation of medicines, in accordance with medicines policy, where appropriate training has been given and competencies achieved
5. Work in partnership with clients, ensuring privacy and dignity are maintained
6. Assist in promoting health and wellbeing of clients
7. Undertake clinical interventions delegated by a senior team member
8. Maintain close liaison with the senior team member responsible for the workload
9. Maintain clear, comprehensive, signed, and contemporaneous records according to procedures
10. Assist with clerical and administrative duties as required
11. Collaborate with other professionals and agencies involved in client care
