Job summary

DrPA Secure Ltd is seeking a General Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at HMP Leyhill, Gloucestershire. This prison setting offers the opportunity to deliver high‑quality primary care to a diverse patient population, with a focus on safeguarding and continuity of care.

The post is a part‑time, flexible, 6‑month locum contract paying £640 per day, with GMC registration required and NHS policies familiarisation.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience working in prison healthcare or with vulnerable populations.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and healthcare delivery in secure environments.
• Sound clinical decision-making and patient management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide full GP services including consultations, clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals.
• Manage chronic diseases, acute presentations, and mental health conditions.
• Contribute to the management of substance misuse and support detox pathways.
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and external healthcare providers.
• Participate in clinical audits, risk assessments, and safeguarding processes.
• Maintain comprehensive clinical records using the prison's electronic health record system.
• Take part in clinical governance activities and support continuous quality improvement.
• Fully qualified GP with current GMC registration and licence to practise.
