We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Printer to join our team.

You will be responsible for leading and operating a flexographic print machine whilst ensuring your print operations are conducted in a safe and controlled manner in line with the required standards and operating procedures. You will report to the shift team manager.

Printer Responsibilities:

1. Set up and operate print machinery to optimum levels in a safe working manner, ensuring that the machinery and surrounding area are maintained in line with required health, safety, environmental, hygiene, and housekeeping standards. Ensure all spills are logged and cleaned immediately. Ensure colleagues working on the press are also operating safely and are aware of and understand the required operating standards.
2. Deliver and sign off work in line with production orders, proactively monitoring and controlling print quality.
3. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards e.g., BRC, ISO & A2 permit.
4. Carry out print inspections & troubleshoot issues with the printing press or print quality. Identify all non-conformities and correct deficiencies by liaising with your Lead hand in Print. Seek additional guidance from colleagues in Technical and Quality when required.
5. Maintain lean manufacturing principles including 5s and SMED. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within Production.
6. Complete all paperwork and electronic data in a timely manner. Complete change request forms if a change needs to be made or an error is found.
7. Complete shift handovers, ensuring the press is in an appropriate operational condition and that the next shift is briefed on production status and relevant issues.
8. Perform press changeover and run speeds in line with KPIs, specifically ensuring that waste is minimized during print runs.

We are looking for a quality-focused candidate with a high level of attention to detail who can demonstrate:

1. Full training as a Flexographic Printer – relevant Print qualifications (City + Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3) are an advantage.
2. Additional qualifications e.g., fire safety, first aid, are advantageous but not essential.
3. A good level of literacy and numeracy, preferably GCSE level in English and Maths or equivalent.
4. Extensive flexographic print experience, specifically with solvent-based inks and wide web presses.
5. Experience with Fischer + Krecke 16S or Bobst 20SIX CI print machines is an advantage.
6. Strong background in manufacturing, either label or packaging printing.
7. Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement techniques is an advantage.
8. Plate mounting experience is also an advantage.
9. Experience overseeing the work of others on the print press.
10. Significant exposure to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards within a production setting.

Print roles operate across the following shift patterns:

Printers working the F&K machine will follow a 12-hour shift pattern, rotating over a 4-week cycle:

• Week 1 – 4 nights, 3 days off
• Week 2 – 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights
• Week 3 – 3 off, 4 days
• Week 4 – 7 off

A reasonable level of fitness is required as the role involves some physical activity such as lifting and bending.
