Intro
We offer flexible working, part-time in our lovely London office (featuring all the essentials - fancy drinks fridge, striped walls and furry friends in abundance) alongside remote working from home, depending on business requirements. We’re also a certified Great Place to Work and a certified London Living Wage employer.
Our founders, Andy (Head Poncho) and Ben (Towel Wizard of Oz), started Dock & Bay back in 2015, after sharing the same struggle of standard towels being too bulky for their backpacks while travelling. It’s a hard knock life, eh?
Following some intense brainstorming - that means pulling down a big red curtain and sticking pieces of white paper to it to create our now iconic stripes - D&B’s quick dry, 100% recycled wonders were born.
Fast forward 8 years and Dock & Bay have become a certified B Corp, with over 100 products in 8 categories, selling in the UK, Australia, the US, Canada and Europe. Our mission is to make the world brighter, and we need your help (if you fit the job description, obviously).
We are on the list of Great Places to work in the Retail, Hospitality & Leisure sector, so you KNOW we’re going to look after you.
THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL
Reporting into the Senior Print and Product Manager, your role as the Print Designer will be to contribute to the creation, process, and design of our prints, helping drive the visual identity of the brand’s print handwriting. This is a highly creative yet commercially driven role, so a strong background in illustration, paired with a keen understanding of commercial trends and market needs, is essential. You will present new trends, themes, and design ideas to the business, working closely with the wider team to share knowledge and insights. Your focus will be on the design and development of printed products, ensuring alignment with brand aesthetic and commercial goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze trade reports, category sales, and SKU performance across global markets to inform print direction and customer preferences.
Identify key trends, colours, competitor analysis, trade shows, and global team feedback.
Research relevant cultural moments and events to shape seasonal print concepts.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure creative direction aligns with business strategy and market needs.
Design bold, original, and scalable patterns that work across our product selection, maintaining brand identity and commercial appeal.
Develop and finalize packaging artwork (e.g., wraps, pouches, swing tags) that aligns with product prints and elevates the customer experience.
Ensure all artwork is clean, layered, labeled, and file-ready. Produce accurate CADs and compile comprehensive print and packaging handover packs for factories.
Review samples and gold seals for colour accuracy, quality, and placement. Provide feedback and support updates as needed.
Maintain Pantone consistency across products and packaging. Record development processes for future marketing and storytelling.
Support product development from concept to production, ensuring print intent is preserved across materials and formats.
Liaise with overseas factories using Monday.com, email, and WeChat. Approve samples only when quality, colour, and specs meet expectations.
Deliver clear specs and feedback to ensure cost-effective improvements and consistent execution.
Collaborate with copy, e-commerce, Ops, and Comms teams to name designs, finalize SKUs, and share Pantone references.
Create range plans and handover assets that inspire and inform cross-functional teams.
Support storytelling by linking each design to trend research, customer insights, or cultural touchpoints.
Work within the Agile framework using Monday.com to track progress and meet critical deadlines.
Communicate blockers to the Senior Product Manager and help maintain up-to-date systems and documentation.
Stay updated with the latest design trends and tools, sharing inspiration and feedback to foster team creativity.
Support junior team members, provide critique, and contribute positively to team culture.
Consider material and design impact across products and packaging, supporting sustainability goals.
