Job summary

Ball Corporation in Devizes, UK, is seeking a Manufacturing Operator – Print Operator to coat and decorate cans to the required specification, supporting a high-volume production line. You will set and run the dry offset press, inspect cans, correct defects, and ensure quality according to the tolerance card, while maintaining a clean, safe work area and collaborating with the shift team.

The role includes a rotating days/nights shift pattern, with a 4-week cycle, and is an Equal Opportunity

Qualifications

• Previous experience in printing within a manufacturing environment is mandatory.
• Experience using quality control equipment.
• Experience in maintenance and mechanical operations is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and hand tools skills.

Responsibilities

• Set and run Dry offset printing machine.
• Prepare materials required for the next job and ensure they match the job sheet supplied and no obvious defects with printing plates etc.
• Regularly inspect cans at specific intervals to ensure quality standards are maintained.
• Examine printed cans and compare them with the Tolerance Card to verify that printing colour/text and registration meets client specifications.
• Detect and correct any defects by making the required machine adjustments.
• Isolate any non-conforming product and report to the Shift manager and QC.
• Hand over to the on-coming Print Operative and inform him/her of the current process conditions using the team to team process.
• Communicate effectively with other team members.
• Minimise waste and maintain a clean and tidy workplace.
